Broadband Deals with No Credit Check

Last updated: 14. 05. 2020

Broadband Deals with No Credit Check
If you’re worried about your credit score or have a poor financial history, then finding a broadband provider that doesn’t require a credit check might be a priority. Read on to learn how easy getting broadband can be, even with bad credit.

Can I get broadband with bad credit?

You can absolutely get broadband with a bad credit score. Some companies will check your credit rating before accepting you as a customer, but you won’t be subject to a rigorous check like when applying for a mortgage or a loan. Even if you do have bad credit, it doesn’t mean you can’t find good broadband deals.

Some providers even offer broadband without a credit check at all. If you are really worried about your credit rating it may be best to go straight to one of these.

Which providers offer broadband with no credit check?

The easiest way to find a bad credit broadband provider is to go with one that doesn’t require a credit check at all. Plusnet and NOW TV both offer broadband without checking your credit score.

If you opt for Plusnet you can get a broadband contract for 12 or even 18 months without needing a credit check. Plusnet is also highly rated as one of the UKs best broadband providers for its customer service.

NOW TV offers fibre broadband deals without a credit check. All you need to set up a broadband connection with NOW TV is 10p in your bank account so they can check your bank card is valid, and your connection will be up and running.

If you are looking for broadband without a credit check, run a broadband comparison to see which provider will offer you the best deal.

What if my broadband provider needs a credit check?

If you are set on a big broadband company, such as TalkTalk, Sky, BT or Virgin Media then you will have to go through a credit check. Don’t worry though, as this will be far less stringent than credit checks for mortgages or loans.

TalkTalk is the most likely household-name broadband provider to accept customers with bad credit. BT and Virgin Media will usually ask you for a deposit which they can use to pay your bills if you are unable to do so.

If you are unsuccessful getting a deal with one of these providers, you can always head to one that doesn’t run a credit check at all.

The cheaper the deal, the better your chance of being accepted with bad credit, so always compare broadband first.

How to Find Broadband without a Credit Check

The easiest way to find broadband without a credit check is to compare broadband online. You don’t need to choose a household name to get the best broadband deals.

No matter which provider you choose, your broadband connection will not be compromised. Even if you choose a provider that doesn’t run a credit check at all, the services you receive are identical and you’ll get the same choice of deals as someone with a great credit score.

How can I find out my credit score?

You can easily check your credit score online for free. Experian, Equifax and Callcredit all show you what has negatively impacted your credit rating and how to improve it.

If you want to easily improve you credit rating a few simple steps can help:

  • Register to vote and get your name on the electoral roll.
  • Pay your bills on time, and use a direct debit if possible.
  • Where possible, avoid linking your finances to someone with a worse credit score than you.

What if I can’t afford broadband?

If you are worried about the costs of broadband there is help available.

If you receive certain benefits, or have a low income then you may qualify for BT Basic broadband. For a reduced rate you will get a standard broadband service with at least 10Mbps and a monthly usage limit of 15GB. BT Basic also includes lower line rental costs and a small calls allowance.

If this won’t meet your needs, you can easily find cheap broadband by comparing deals.
