Black Friday broadband deals

It's that time of year again. Black Friday is fast approaching and retailers across the country will begin offering amazing deals to entice you. The broadband market is no different, with almost all providers offering discounts, freebies, and more across both Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This guide will help you to find the best deals.

What is Black Friday?

A late November sales bonanza borrowed from the Americans, Black Friday has emerged as one of the best days of the year to nab deals on everything from appliances to fragrances to broadband contracts.

In 2023, Black Friday falls on 24 November. After a subdued day last year, retailers are pulling out all the stops, slashing prices, offering cashback, matching competitorsprices, and throwing in giveaways too. Look for unbeatable bargains on broadband and mobile contracts, TVs, gaming consoles, tablets, toys, Christmas gifts and home goods.

What is Cyber Monday?

Cyber Monday is Black Fridays digital twin, traditionally the day when online retailers get in on the action. The distinction between the two days has worn away as online shopping has become dominant. But some major retailers like Amazon still reserve their best deals for Monday.

This year, Cyber Monday falls on 27 November.

Black Friday broadband deals

Black Friday is the best day of the year to switch broadband providers and lock in bargains that will save you money for months to come. Competing for your contract, ISPs slash their monthly prices, waive upfront fees, throw in months for free and hand out electronics and gift cards.

So, what are the best Black Friday broadband deals on offer this year? Let’s take a look at some of the UK’s major providers’ promotions in 2023:

BT

This year, BT is offering FREE broadband for the first three months of your contract across all of its packages, except for Fibre Essential. This can result in significant savings of up to £150 (on the BT Full Fibre 900 package).

On top of this, BT has slashed the price of its Sport packages to just £1 per month for the first three months of your contract. This means the Sport + Fibre 2 package, usually £50.99 a month, is available for the initial bargain price of just £1 per month!

NOW

NOW often outdoes parent company Sky on Black Friday. This year is no different, offering even greater discounts on its fibre broadband packages than it did last year. In 2023, you can get your hands on either the NOW Fab Fibre or NOW Super Fibre packages for just £23 per month on a 12-month contract!

It's also offering great deals on its broadband and TV packages, such as NOW Super Fibre + Cinema, which gives you all Sky Cinema channels, for just £32.99 per month.

Plusnet

Plusnet is offering some great-value deals this Black Friday, especially on its full fibre deals. This simple, no-frills provider is offering Full Fibre 145 for just £26.99 a month, its Full Fibre 300 deal for £29.99 a month, and its speedy Full Fibre 500 package for a very reasonable £31.99 a month

Sky

Sky regularly knocks up to 30% off its broadband contracts during Black Friday, and this year the provider has continued the trend with some great-value deals across its broadband, TV, and mobile packages.

You can now get Superfast Broadband (61Mbps) for just £25 a month, Ultrafast Broadband (145Mbps) for £29 a month, or Ultrafast Broadband Plus (500Mbps) for £35 a month.

For example, you can get the Big Bundle, which includes M125 fibre broadband, 100+ TV channels, and unlimited weekend calls to UK landlines and Virgin Mobile numbers, for a cut price of just £31.99 a month.

You can also find great discounts on Virgin Media’s full-fibre only packages, including the lightning quick Gig1 Fibre Broadband deal for just £45 per month, while you'll also get the first 3 months free!

How do I find the best deal on Black Friday?

Black Friday can be overwhelming, with retailers shouting amazing deals at you from every direction. How do you find the best deal on broadband for your household? Here are a few tips:

  • Consider what you want: Before you get swept away by the shiniest sale, take a step back and figure out your priorities. Do you want superfast or ultrafast broadband? Any TV channels? A sports package? Hundreds of pounds off a massive broadband and TV bundle doesnt make sense if you dont want all the channels it offers and you get locked into high monthly bills for years. The deals available might encourage you to upgrade for less money than you thought, but dont spring for a package that doesnt suit you.
  • Consider extras: Black Friday is a great time to bag gifts with your broadband contract. A gift card can reduce the overall cost, while extras like a new TV can be a great present for under the tree. Peruse the extras on offer but, again, dont sign a years-long broadband contract just to get the freebie.
  • Shop around: Black Friday can inspire a frenzy - think of those people on news reports throwing punches over discounted microwaves - but its the considered shopper who finds the best savings. Before you commit to a broadband contract, check out what the competitors are offering. Running a broadband comparison search can show you all the bargains available on one page.
  • Plan ahead: Broadband providers often tease their deals in the days before Black Friday. These sneak peeks can let you make a road map before the madness starts.
