How do I set up parental controls on Sky Broadband?

Last updated: 16 February 2022

Concerned about the content your children might see online or how late they stay up scrolling? To protect your family online, Sky offers Broadband Buddy, a suite of parental controls including content filtering and web monitoring, all managed through a mobile app.

Sky Broadband Buddy lets you set different content filters for each user so you can keep your children away from harmful or distracting content. You can also track the amount of time each family member spends online and set time limits and bedtimes. Finally, you can monitor the sites that your family members visit.

To use Sky’s Broadband Buddy to set parental controls, you need to have Sky Broadband Boost, an optional £5/month add-on to Sky’s internet plans. You will also need a compatible Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.

To set up the controls, download the Sky Broadband Buddy from the App Store or Google Play Store and sign in with your Sky ID. Set up your device as the parent app and begin adding profiles for your children and individual content filters, time limits, and bedtimes.

You then need to download the same app to your child's devices and set it up as a kids app. You’ll be given a QR code you can scan with your parent device to link your child’s device to the profile you’ve created. The content restrictions you've set will then apply to their device.
