About iTalk

iTalk is a small, independent broadband provider based in Brighton, providing internet solutions to homes across the UK.

The ISP began operating in 2007, and has since steadily grown a loyal customer base. While it’s not yet a household name, it has ambitions to ‘become the nation’s most trusted broadband provider’.

But are these ambitions realistic? Is iTalk any good? Let’s take a look at what it offers and find out.

What does iTalk offer?

iTalk likes to keep things simple when it comes to its broadband deals. It currently offers just three tiers of broadband: Unlimited Broadband, Unlimited Fibre, and Unlimited Superfast Fibre.

All of its broadband contracts last for 24 months, while they also come with a one-off £9.95 delivery fee.

Unlimited Broadband

This is iTalk’s entry-level package, using ADSL technology (existing landline infrastructure) to provide average download speeds of 11Mbps and upload speeds of 1Mbps. This a very basic, and often frustratingly slow internet connection, so we’d only really recommend it if you can’t get fibre where you live.

It currently costs £21.99 a month. If you have to resort to ADSL, we recommend you have a look at other broadband providers in your area as you can often find basic packages for under £20 per month.

Unlimited Fibre

This package uses fibre optic technology to deliver a much faster and more reliable internet connection. With iTalk’s Unlimited Fibre plan, you’ll get average download speeds of 35Mbps and upload speeds of 9Mbps. This should suit most small households and medium internet users.

It will currently set you back £30.49 a month, which isn’t overly expensive, but we believe the next package up provides even better value.

Unlimited Superfast Fibre

This is iTalk’s fastest fibre package, providing average download speeds of 68Mbps and upload speeds of 18Mbps. This should suit most medium-sized households, but heavy internet users and online gamers may want to consider something faster; unfortunately, iTalk doesn’t yet offer any ultrafast or gigafast connections - you’ll have to look elsewhere.

If you’re happy with these speeds however, this package will cost you £35.49 per month as of December 2021. This is only £5 more per month than iTalk’s Unlimited Fibre package, and we believe the improved speeds you’ll get are worth the extra money.

Is iTalk any good?

As iTalk is a small company with a relatively low number of customers, it isn’t included in Ofcom’s annual customer satisfaction reports.

It does, however, have over 13,000 reviews on Trustpilot, as of December 2021. And according to these reviews, iTalk’s service isn’t bad at all. 82% of customers rated its service as excellent, with just 6% thinking its bad, giving it an overall score of 4.7 stars out of 5.
