About Onestream

Onestream is a relative newcomer to the broadband market, having only been launched in the middle of 2018. However, the Hampshire-based ISP is quickly gaining a reputation as a cheap and reliable alternative to some of the big players in the game.

Onestream offers a choice of fibre broadband packages, all of which come with unlimited downloads, with average speeds ranging from 45Mbps up to 800Mbps. With such a wide range of speeds, you'll be sure to find a broadband package that suits you and your household's needs, whether you use the internet sparingly or constantly. 

Let’s take a look at Onestream’s broadband packages and see if they’re any good.

What does Onestream offer?

Onestream prides itself on being a simple, no-frills broadband provider, and its packages are just that – simple. It has six tiers of package: Onestream Fibre 55, Onestream Fibre 80, Supreme Full Fibre 155, Supreme Full Fibre 220, Supreme Full Fibre 550, and Hyperstream Full Fibre 1000.

All of Onestream’s broadband packages are available on either 12, 18, or 24-month contracts. However, the monthly cost of each package remains the same no matter which length of contract you go for.

Therefore, we’d recommend going for the 12-month contract so that you’re more flexible to switch broadband providers further down the line. However, be aware of when your contract is coming to an end to avoid paying out-of-contract rates.

Onestream Fibre 55

This is Onestream's basic, entry-level broadband package. Offering average download speeds of 45Mbps, this is quite a bit faster than what you'd usually get with an entry-level broadband deal, and is over twice as fast as most basic ADSL connections. Meanwhile, upload speeds average just 8Mbps.

These speeds may be enough if you live alone or you only use the internet occasionally, but in most cases, we’d recommend getting something a bit faster.

It currently costs £21.95 per month, whether that’s on a 12, 18, or 24-month contract. And considering the speeds you’ll get are much better than you’d get with an ADSL connection, this is great value for money.

Onestream Fibre 80

This is Onestream’s fastest basic fibre (FTTC) package before getting onto full fibre connections, offering much improved average download speeds of 67Mbps, and upload speeds of 17Mbps. This is a much more reliable connection than the Onestream Fibre 55 package, and it should leave the majority of small to medium-sized households satisfied.

At just £22.95 month, it’s only a pound more expensive each month than Onestream’s entry-level package! Therefore, if it’s a choice between the two, then you should only really consider Onestream Fibre 80.

Supreme Full Fibre 155

Onestream’s entry-level full fibre package provides average download speeds of 92Mbps and upload speeds of 18Mbps. These are pretty standard full fibre speeds, albeit at the slower end of the scale, but most medium-sized households should be happy with them. 

The Supreme Full Fibre 155 package is extremely good value for money though, especially when compared to Onestream’s other plans. Costing just £26.95 per month, there’s just a £5 monthly difference between this package and the provider’s slowest onnection. However, unlike Onestream's fibre-to-the-cabinet packages, its full fibre deals come with a one-off installation fee of £10.

Supreme Full Fibre 220

Next up is Onestream’s Supreme Full Fibre 220 package, which offers much-improved average download speeds of 176Mbps and upload speeds of 26Mbps. These superfast speeds are starting to get into serious territoy, and almost all medium-sized households should be satisfied with this package. 

The Supreme Full Fibre 220 package is also pretty good value for money, costing just £31.45 per month. That's not even £10 more per month than the provider's slowest offering, although its download speeds are almost four times as fast! But, just like all of Onestream's full fibre deals, it comes with an installation fee of £10.

Supreme Full Fibre 550

This is Onestream’s fastest full fibre connection before getting into gigafast speeds. The Supreme Full Fibre 550 package provides ultrafast download speeds averaging 440Mbps, while the upload speeds it offsers average 66Mbps. These sorts of speeds should suit all but the largest households of heavy internet users and online gamers. 

Currently costing £39.59 per month whichever contract length you go for, the Supreme Full Fibre 550 package is good value for money when compared to similar packages from rival providers. Remember the one-off £10 installation fee though!

Hyperfast Full Fibre 1000

Onestream’s premium package provides average download speeds of 800Mbps and upload speeds of 101Mbps. Advertised as 'gigabit-capable' broadband, it's average speeds don't quite reach the 1,000Mbps mark like some providers do, but at these blistering speeds you'll struggle to notice the difference. This package should satisfy any household, whether you're a shared house full of Netflix binge watchers or a family with avid online gamers. 

The Hyperfast Full Fibre 1000 package is also good value for money, especially when compared to Onestream’s other plans. Costing just £41.95 per month, it's only around £2 more per month than the Supreme Full Fibre 550 deal, but offers double the speed. If all packages are available where you live, we’d always recommend you go for this one.

Is Onestream any good?

Because Onestream is such a newcomer to the broadband market in the UK, it’s difficult to determine exactly how good its service is. It’s relatively low number of customers means it’s not yet included in Ofcom’s annual customer satisfaction reports.

However, it has over 4,500 customer reviews on Trustpilot*, with an ‘excellent’ overall score of 4.4 stars out of 5. 67% of customers rated its service excellent, compared to just 19% who said it was bad.
