EE Offers NHS Workers Free Unlimited Data for 6 Months

EE-offer-NHS

Mobile network EE has joined Vodafone in offering NHS staff free unlimited data to thank them for their role in on the frontlines of the coronavirus crisis.

But unlike Vodafone’s 30-day offer, EE is offering healthcare workers six months of free data, until 9 October 2020.

EE’s offer went live last Thursday, promoted by a TV and internet advert featuring Kevin Bacon. It’s an additional boost to the 20% discount EE already offers NHS staff on pay monthly mobile plans.

To access the offer, existing EE customers working for the NHS need to register on EE’s site using a valid NHS email address. They will then receive an SMS telling them they have unlimited data for no additional charge until 9 October 2020.

Marc Allera, CEO of the consumer division at BT, which owns EE, said: “We hope this gives NHS staff one less thing to worry about. They can keep in touch with friends and family and use the internet without worrying about using up their data.

“Along with the discount we already provide, this is a thank you from all of us at EE to those in the NHS that are working so hard for us all.”

EE said the discount was just part of its efforts to support the health service during the pandemic.

“EE and BT are doing all we can to increase our support for the NHS and are supporting with technology for hospitals, doctors and nurses, as well as connecting many of the temporary field hospitals around the country, including London’s NHS Nightingale Hospital,” the company said in a statement.

EE’s coronavirus support package also includes free calls, text and data for vulnerable and disabled customers, to help them stay connected during the lockdown. Parent company BT has also lifted caps on its legacy limited broadband tariffs, as part of an industry-wide commitment.

BT is also allowing BT Sport customers to have their monthly subscription price donated to NHS Charities Together for Covid-19 Urgent Appeal. So far the effort has raised £282,000. But while BT Sport customers can donate their bill, unlike Sky customers they can't pause their Sky Sports subscription while matches are called off.
