GiffGaff recently announced that they will be increasing the prices of calls texts for pay as you go customers.
Many of those who are on pay as you go are so precisely to save a bit of money, and Giffgaff customers may find themselves wondering if it’s time to jump onto the contract bandwagon.
See the full list of changes below.
Data will remain the same price, and four of Giffgaffs bundle packages (which they call goody bags) will actually see their usage limit go up with no additional cost. For those negatively affected though, the knowledge some of your fellow GiffGaff-ers are getting a better deal will not be much consolation. For those among the thousands affected - or just those who feel that their current provider isn’t up to scratch - we have put together a list of the best pay as you go packages available right now, to keep you chatting for less:
This aptly named pay as you go provider offers an incredibly simple and fairly cost effective pay as you go product. They charge 1p per minute, 1p per megabyte of data and 1p per text. This offer is great for those who aren’t going to be using their phone much, but if you are someone who finds themselves using data fairly regularly you might want to consider something different (using 1GB would cost you £10 which is quite high compared to other networks’ bundles). To get started you need to pay an initial amount of £10 and they said you a sim with £10 loaded on it. The 1p rate is also extended to 46 different european locations making this a great option for those who are going on holiday.
Vodafone's initial offering seems a bit pricier: a minute of calltime, a text, and 5MB of data all cost 20p each. Spend £1 in one day however, and you’ll get unlimited calls, unlimited texts, and 500MB of data to use until the next day at no extra cost. Vodafone also offers a range of pay as you go bundles with any unused credit rolling over into the next month. They have also tripled their data allowance on these with increased usage available on packages purchases before the 31st of March. See below for the available bundles:
