Broadband and internet TV provider NOW TV is kicking free anytime UK phone calls into its unlimited broadband and phone line rental bundles.
Previously, unlimited anytime domestic calls cost customers £8 a month on top of their internet and line rental fees, so at nearly £100 per year the savings are significant.
The cheapest way to access NOW Broadband with free calls is through the Brilliant Broadband package, which offers unlimited internet with average download speeds of 10 Mbps for £18 per month for the first 12 months (rising to £25.99 after the first year).
Free calls are also included with the Fab Fibre bundle, with average speeds of 36 Mbps and a initial monthly cost of £25 (subsequently £35.99) and the Super Fibre package, which boasts average speeds of 58Mbps for £35 per month for the first year (£43.99 thereafter). These fees include phone line rental and a wireless router (which does incur a one-off delivery charge of £9.99) and come on 12-month contracts.
The move from NOW TV comes as parent company Sky competes for subscribers and switchers with summer discounts to its two main unlimited fibre broadband packages.
Sky is trimming the cost of its Sky Fibre, with average download speeds of 36 Mbps, and line rental bundles to £25 per month for the first 18 months (and £38.99 thereafter). The next tier, Sky Fibre Max, which boasts an average download speed of 63 Mbps, will cost £30 per month for 18 months and £43.99 subsequently. Sky charges a £59.95 one-time activation fee but this can be offset by the £50 prepaid MasterCard you get for signing on. The offers from Sky are expected to last until July 5th. The free calls through NOW TV appear that they will be standard for broadband bundles through the provider going forward.
