Sky Mobile Offers 1GB of Free Data for Every Home Euros Goal

Sky Mobile is gifting participating customers 1GB of mobile data free for every goal England, Scotland and Wales score in the ongoing Euros tournament.

The “Back of the Net” promotion kicked off last week, with the start of the delayed Euro 2020 tournament.

While Great Britain’s track record in international football isn’t great, even a few extra gigabytes is a nice boost to fans’ data allowances. In 2016, the promotion would have netted customers 11GB of data (7GB from Wales, 4GB from England, Scotland didn’t qualify for the tournament).

While each 1GB of data isn’t a lot, it’s enough to stream a match on your mobile without otherwise using your data allowance. This year so far England has scored one goal in the tournament and Wales has scored three, making fans eligible for 4GB of data.

The data boost will go into your Sky Piggybank, which usually holds the unused date rolled over from previous months.

To qualify for the data boosts, you’ll need to register on Sky Mobile’s website, giving your name, address and phone number (all data which Sky Mobile should already have on you).

Paul Sweeney, managing director of Sky Mobile, said: “After waiting for an entire year for this tournament to take place, we hope our free data boost for Sky Mobile customers can go some way in bringing fans together to cheer on football finally coming home.”

England and Scotland face off on Friday, giving Sky Mobile subscribers a double shot at winning free data. Wales next plays on Sunday, against Italy.

Data boosts aside, few of us are using all the mobile data we're signed up for. Which? recently found that Brits waste an average of 14GB of mobile data each month. While nearly half (44%) of us have a data allowance of more than 10GB per month, 72% use less than 5GB and nearly half (47%) use less than 3GB.
