TalkTalk Begins Multiroom TV Trial

tv-deals

TalkTalk customers who applied for the new multi room feature will be happy to hear that the ISP is beginning to finally roll it out in the coming months.

According to TalkTalk, the new service will become available in the first half of 2018 and is expected to be fully implemented in March or April, after having been announced in November last year.

Functionality will come from an additional set-top box, and the multi-room service will added to customers’ tariffs for a small fee. Although it hasn’t been set in stone what the extra cost will be after the trial period, it is expected to be around £4 monthly. Initially it is only expected the new feature will allow for two boxes in any household although there is potential for this number to increase in due course.

Interested parties should be aware that your connection speed needs to be a minimum of 3Mbps to support the TV services and 5Mbps who more HD packages that involve sports and movies. This will of course need to be multiplied by the extra top-boxes should you be taking advantage of the multi-room feature.

Talk Talk released the following statement in November 2017: “In H2 we expect to launch a multi-room proposition allowing us to address a new segment in the market, and a new multi-screen platform, which will offer consistent access to Video On Demand and linear content, complementing the YouView set top box experience.”

TalkTalk also spoke of a new multi-screen feature, to be offered as a bolt on to any existing customers on a TV tariff, although this is expected to be free.
