How much does it cost to use my phone abroad?

The cost of making calls, sending texts, or using data abroad depends on where you are travelling to.

If you are travelling inside the EU, you can use the minutes, texts, or data that is included as part of your usual allowance whilst roaming across 48 different countries, all at no extra cost. This means you can continue to use your phone as usual (as long as you keep within your allowance limits).

4GEE Max plan customers can also use their allowances in another five countries (Australia, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, and the USA) at no extra cost too.

What if I’m travelling outside of the EU?

If your travels take you further than the EU, the cost of calling, texting, checking voicemail, or using data gets a bit more complicated. The charges depend on the country you are travelling to, and the tariff that you are on.

The best way to find out how much it will cost you is to visit the EE website here and use their Roaming Costs Calculator. Just select the country you are travelling to and the calculator will break down the costs for you.

Does it cost extra to use 4G when roaming?

Your 4G allowances will remain the same if you are travelling within the EU.

If you’re travelling outside of the EU, and roaming isn’t included as part of your tariff, then standard rates will apply.

What is a roaming data add-on?

If you are travelling outside of the EU and want to use data on your phone, then you may need a roaming data add-on if your tariff doesn’t already include roaming.

You will still be able to access the internet over a WiFi connection, but if you want to access the internet over a mobile network connection then you’ll need to purchase a roaming data add-on.

All roaming add-ons will allow you to access a 4G connection via 80+ different networks whilst your abroad

All EE tariffs include EU roaming data as standard.
