The good news is that the Sky Q box will work with any broadband connection that delivers adequate speed.
Sky Q is a set-top box allowing subscribers to record and store live TV and access on-demand content and streaming apps. It does need a broadband connection to work, but the only requirement for that connection is that it delivers a minimum download speed of 3Mbps.
You’ll need considerably more speed than this if you plan on streaming HD video content or if you have multiple devices sharing the same WiFi network, however.
While you can certainly use another broadband provider with the Sky Q box, Sky does offer incentives to customers who subscribe to both their broadband and TV services.
Firstly, Sky often offers discounts on these bundles, meaning it may be cheaper for you to subscribe to both Sky TV and Sky broadband than to use another broadband provider.
Additionally, if you have Sky broadband, you can get Sky Q Mini boxes, which effectively function as WiFi extenders and allow you to access the same television content on screens in other rooms. This feature isn’t available to Sky TV customers with broadband connections from other providers.
