How do I turn off Sky Broadband Shield?

Last updated: 03 February 2022

Sky Broadband Shield is an online protection tool that restricts access to harmful websites, including those with malware and adult content. All Sky home broadband plans include Sky Shield as standard for no additional cost, and it will automatically be switched on when you set up your connection.

But not all people want the content restrictions imposed by Sky Shield. Additionally, sometimes the content blocks can interfere with the running of other programmes on your computer, such as the VPNs frequently used by home workers.

You can adjust the age rating on your Sky Shield to allow access to more websites. But you may simply want to turn it off, especially if you already have anti-virus software running on your devices.

To turn off Sky Broadband Shield, follow these simple steps:

  1. Sign into Sky Broadband Shield, using your Sky ID username and password.
  2. Select ‘Disable Shield’.
  3. Click ‘Save settings.’

It may take around 15 minutes before you can view previously blocked websites.
